Given the context of high emphasis on formal education, Adults learning and education is a partially neglected area in Sri Lanka. Most of the people including youth believe that when they completed the formal education (school level) would mean that they have completed their “Education”. There are no adequate systems/procedures to promote adult learning and education In Sri Lanka. With the funding and technical support of ASPBAE CED Sri Lanka conducted a study to assess the existing situation with regard to ALE. In this study CED assessed the available opportunities, reviewed policy frameworks, budget provisions and found the gaps in implementation of the planned activities with regard to ALE in Sri Lanka. The report makes relevant recommendations in order to promote ALE in Sri Lanka.
