Coalition for Educational development recently conducted two Awareness raising
programme for the Education Planning officers of the Western and North central Province.
These programmes were held on 22 February and 05 April 2025 respectively . In these
sessions basically, the following topics were covered
- Importance of involvement/contribution of the civil society in education policymaking,
planning, implementation and monitoring - Existing practices and way forward
- Moving from Activity-Based Planning to Results-Based Planning: Develop an action
plan
All most all the planning officers of these two provinces including the provincial
directors of education and the zonal directors participated for these interactive
sessions. The main objective of these sessions is to minimize the gap between the
education authorities and civil society sector in planning, implementation and
monitoring the education policies.
CED utilize a dual approach to promote participatory policy planning and
Implementation. CED conducted capacity building programme for the civil society
actors on the existing policy frameworks. In parallelly CED implemented an
awareness programme on the advantage of consultative planning for the education
planning officials. CED believe that linking the civil society with the public officials,
develop the trust among them and identifying the available opportunities for
engaging the civil society would pave the way to develop and implement effective
and sustainable education policies to ensure quality education in Sri Lanka
