The Coalition for Educational Development (CED) successfully conducted the Capacity Development Programme on Gender-Responsive Budgeting and Gender-Responsive Financing in the Education Sector on 22nd August 2026 at the Ecumenical Institute for Study and Dialogue, Colombo.
The programme brought together representatives from CED member organizations from across Sri Lanka, with all CED members invited to participate. The programme provided a meaningful platform for members to enhance their understanding of gender-responsive budgeting and gender-responsive financing and to discuss their importance in promoting greater gender equality and equity within the education sector.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Sisira Kumarasiri, who shared valuable insights and practical perspectives on gender-responsive budgeting and financing. Through interactive discussions and knowledge-sharing, participants explored key concepts, challenges, and opportunities for integrating gender considerations into education policies, planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
The discussions generated practical ideas and recommendations aimed at strengthening gender equality, equity, inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability in education financing and decision-making.
CED extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Sisira Kumarasiri for his valuable contribution and for sharing his expertise with CED members.
We also express our heartfelt gratitude to all CED member organizations and participants for their active engagement, valuable perspectives, and commitment to advancing gender-responsive approaches in Sri Lanka’s education sector.
