Although the government of Sri Lanka adopted measures to ensure a uniform standard among all schools, some qualitative disparities are clearly perceptible. In this context despite the claim of universal access to free education, specially the disadvantage and marginalized communities in the society encounter significant disparities when they access education.
There are some studies carried out to find out the reasons or contextual factors that contribute to limit the access for quality education for the aforesaid communities. However, there are no adequate number of studies that focus on identifying the mechanisms or strategies to address the specific issues in the sector. In this context CED is planning to conduct a study to find out the mechanisms to address the gaps encounter in accessing education by the marginalized communities in Sri Lanka. CED expects to share the findings of the study soon
