The Coalition for Educational Development launched the “Analysis of Education Policies, Policy Frameworks and Reform Initiatives in Sri Lanka: Strength, Relevance and Gaps in Education Policies and Policymaking,” the latest Research publication of CED on March 11, 2025, at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. This study was conducted by Dr Jayantha on behalf of CED. This study focused on the major Education policies and policy frameworks in Sri Lanka since 1939 and up to now and presents a comprehensive analysis using a standard methodology. Dr, Balasooriya made a comprehensive presentation on the report. Followed by this presentation, Dr. Praba Manurathna, Gender consultant – University Grant Commission and Senior lecturer Department of English, University of Kelaniya, made a review on the publication.
The launch event was attended by distinguished guests, including Mrs. Jayani Prisangika Director Planning Ministry of Education, Dr. Chandana Bandara, Prof Manjula Widanapathirana, Director National Institute of Education, Dr Chandana Bandar, Chairman of the Coalition for Educational Development, and representatives from the Local Education Group, Civil society organizations, International Non-governmental organizations and Media.
