The Coalition for Educational Development (CED) successfully conducted a capacity-building workshop on Education in Emergencies (EiE) on July 25, 2025, at the CIPM Auditorium in Colombo. Funded by the Global Campaign for Education (GCE), this workshop brought together 13 passionate youth participants from across the island to engage in meaningful discussions and advocacy efforts focused on ensuring access to education during emergency situations.
As part of the event, the National Coordinator of CED facilitated a Youth Awareness Programme on EiE and the INEE Minimum Standards, where participants explored and identified key responsibilities that authorities must uphold during emergencies to ensure uninterrupted education.
The session also featured two expert resource persons:
Dr. Prasad Perera, Advocacy Consultant
Mr. Jayasiri Jayasekara, Media Consultant
Both shared valuable knowledge and introduced effective advocacy tools for youth, empowering participants to take action in their communities.
Following the discussions, youth leaders collaboratively presented content highlighting some of the key challenges faced in education during emergency situations.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a success! Together, we move toward building a more resilient and inclusive education system for all.
